Betty Jane Henon passed away peacefully in her bed at home on November 29th, 2024. She is survived by her son (Kyle Henon), daughter (Amber Henon), daughter-in-law (Katrina Henon), her grandsons (Dominic Hepperle and Blayden Henon), three granddaughters (Lee Ann Henon, Serenity Jane Love Henon, and Melody Maylyn Grace Henon), her brothers (Joe Hudspeth and Larry Hudspeth), her sister (Gwynne Wolverton), as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved like they were her own.
Betty (maiden name Hudspeth) joined the world on June 17th, 1950. Born in Canyon City, Oregon to the late Lloyd and Telia Hudspeth and her brother and sister, Joe and Gwynne. She would later welcome her baby brother, Larry, into the world.
After schooling, she would go on to marry the late Allan Lee Henon on January 18th, 1971 in Winnemucca, NV. After two years in Canyon City, they moved to Prineville before ultimately selling their home and belongings, and moved to Phoenix Arizona to become a truck driving team. However, they missed Oregon and decided to move back to plant their roots.
Short of working with her husband and later being a mother, her favorite job was driving a school bus for approximately 10 years. She would leave bus driving behind soon after adopting a two year old daughter, Amber. Two years later in 1991, they would also adopt a three year old boy, Kyle. Her heart felt truly at home when she would take her annual vacation to the beach with family and always had a bag full of shells and rocks in tow. She absolutely adored cooking for and hosting family/friends. Christmas being her absolute favorite time of year - she was always sure to try and make it a magical time for anyone around her. She was also an avid women’s team bowler.
Later in life, Betty was a full time caregiver for her husband until his passing in 2008. She spent her remaining years going to the beach, spending time with family and loving her grandchildren. She started showing signs of cerebral atrophy in 2013. She was cared for by her son and daughter-in-law where she got to see her granddaughters be born and watched them grow in her own home. After a long, hard fought battle, she left us to join her husband in heaven on his birthday, November 29th.
Betty will be remembered by her infectious laugh, her quick wit, her sense of humor, her carefree spirit, how much she wanted to ensure everyone around her was doing well, and her love for her family. Her memorial service will be held at Prineville Funeral Home on December 21st at 10am. We would encourage anyone who wants to come share in her memories to attend.
