Albert Anton Ahlberg of Prineville passed away at his home on Saturday, April 11, 2020. He was 81 years old.
Al was born April 17, 1938 in Cascade, Idaho to Anton and Leona (Logue) Ahlberg. The family lived in several Idaho and Oregon towns during his early years and Al graduated high school in Fall City, Oregon, lettering in basketball.
Following High School, Al volunteered in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. It was there that he met and married his first wife, Isolde Rachny. With his honorable discharge in 1959, Al settled in Prineville and began working at Hudspeth Sawmill Company, where he worked until it’s closure. He continued working at various local sawmills, including Ochoco Lumber Company, until semi-retirement when he began working for the Crook County School District. In 1985, Al married Clara HIll, who remained his loving partner and friend for these past thirty-five years. Al is remembered as a loyal and hard-working employee; a good and generous friend, a faithful husband and father, and a humble man of strong Christian faith. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and camping, and he was an avid gardener. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Survivors include: his wife, Clara Ahlberg, daughter Debbie Ziegler and husband Lee, son Tom Ahlberg and wife Jenice, sisters Yvonne Schlichting and Millie Gray, stepchildren Sherrie Rhoden and Ronny, and Sheila Hill-Small, daughters-in-law Justine Hill and Jill Ahlberg, along with seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton Ahlberg and Leona Gray, brothers Leonard Ahlberg & James Gray, first wife Isolde Ahlberg, son Ronald Ahlberg, stepson Jerry Hill Jr., and grandson Jack Lee Wick. The family plans a celebration of life on August 8, 2020, at 1:00pm, New Life Bible Chapel, 510 NW 4th St. Everyone is welcome to attend.
