Virginia Revis Obituary

Virginia Godard Revis

Virginia Mabel (Godard) Revis was born June 19, 1927 in Grants Pass, Oregon to John and Ellen Godard.  When she was 2 weeks old, her parents moved to Sprague River, Oregon where they raised Virginia and her younger brother John.

She spent her early years growing up and attending grade school in Sprague River.  In 1939 when Virginia was 12 years old, she was baptized at the Rocky Bottom swimming hole in the Sprague River by Reverend Cole.  Her first job was in a Sprague River restaurant.  In 1941, she met the love of her life Arion Revis; though their courtship was to be brief, as Pearl Harbor was bombed and Arion left for war.  While Arion was touring Europe, Virginia was finishing high school in Grants Pass graduating with the class of 1945.  When the war ended, Arion came home and Virginia became his bride on March 1, 1946.  The had two children:  Ronald and Debra.

Virginia and Arion moved from Grants Pass, Oregon to Prineville, Oregon in August 1960.   Virginia worked for the Prineville Sears store for 25 years until her retirement.  They continued to raise a garden, her pretty flowers, and because they all shared a love for the outdoors, the family hunted, fished, camped and supported most sporting events, especially Ron’s basketball games.  Life was busy for Virginia during the 60’s and 70’s.  She and her husband decided to go “rural” and bought two pieces of property:  one where they lived out McKay and one where they raised grass hay and beef.  She supported her husband and son in all of their ranching activities as well as continuing to do her handiwork where she created many heirloom keepsake doilies and numerous needlecraft designs for family and friends.

Virginia loved to travel and go on gambling junkets!  They traveled with their close friends to Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada and houseboat excursions on Shasta Lake.  She loved all types of board and card games. She also belonged to a pinochle group.

She is survived by her brother John (Julie) Godard; son Ron (Irene) Revis; daughter Debbie Revis;

Granddaughter Jenny (Keith) Headley; Grandson Monty Bowen; Step Grandsons Brant (Jackie) Slaughter; Tobin (Anne) Slaughter; and Great-Grandchildren: Baily Michel; Aaron, Marshall, Anna Bowen; and Step Great-Grandchildren Rachael, James, Grace, and David Slaughter; Sam and Lane Slaughter, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arion, her parents, and one Step-granddaughter Kristin Kennedy.
