The stars and stripes they fly today in honor of all who paid the ultimate price.
Today of all days I stand here remembering you that fell. Brothers, Sisters, Moms and Dads, sons and
Daughters.
Picnics and BBQ’s fill our air, no longer the smell of gunpowder here.
Kids laughing playing young girls cry, because their lover left them for another.
Yes, you who died I will remember. You died so others could forget.
No, not I; I know the sacrifice you made I lived it and I learned it in my history books.
While others have forgot why we get a three-day weekend I will stand here and remember why.
The blood-stained earth, the tears of families forever torn apart.
A nation that has lost its way yet you died so they could forget, they call you names they have
Rewritten the history books they spit on your graves.
No, not I; I will tell my children and my grandchildren of the brave Men and Women that fought
And died so they could forget; but today we will remember My family will always know why
We have a three-day weekend. Much like Christ who rose on the third day on this third day we will
Remember; or the cost of forgetting will make us face an even greater enemy and that is a battle
I am afraid to face.
Together you faced your enemy you did not die in vain the blood that you shed gives breath to us all
Lest we forget the cost was massive the burden heavy but you who died did so with no regret
So that they can forget.
