Marlyn K. VanLandingham passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 in Redmond, Oregon. A private burial was held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Juniper Haven Cemetery where he was laid to rest with his best friend and companion Bobbi his dog and beside the love of his life, Mary Jean VanLandingham who passed away on April 26, 2006.

Marlyn was born on December 30, 1941 in Caldwell Idaho to Ivan and Alma VanLandingham. In 1960 during his senior year in High school Marlyn met Mary Jean Pierce. After graduating High School in 1960 Marlyn married Mary in March of that same year in Oregon City.  

The family moved to Caldwell Idaho shortly after their marriage to be closer to his parents.  Their first child, Sherri Rene VanLandingham was born September 2, 1960.  A second Daughter, Laurie Jean VanLandingham was born to them on August 1, 1961, and passed away on August 10, 1961 due to heart complications.  On July 11, 1963 their Daugher Julie Lynne VanLandingham was born and 6 weeks later they move to Bend, Oregon where Marlyn went to work at Bob Thomas Chevrolet in the parts department until moving to Prineville in 1968 to go to work for Rice Motor Company where he became the manager of the parts department.  In the early 1970’s he owned and operated Rimrock Radiator (“The Best Place in Town to Take a Leak”) until relocating to Redmond, Oregon where he and his wife operated a U-Bake Pizza shop for a couple years.  Marlyn then attended Central Oregon Community College where he received his Associates of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration / Accounting in June of 1992.  He then went to work as the Accountant for a pest control company in Bend, Oregon.  He retired in 2006 after his wife’s death.

Marlyn loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman.  He enjoyed fishing the Crooked River as well as several of the Cascade Lakes.  He traveled to Canada on fishing trips several times.  He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and snowmobiles.  He liked to read and do crossword puzzles.

He leaves behind his two Daughters, Sherri Adams (Roger), Julie Rockwood (David), 6 Grandchildren: Kristy Payne, Marcy Holmes Laurie Simmons, Jonathan Good, Katie Nash, Derek Nash, and 8 Great Granchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, infant Daughter and Sister.
