James Charles Gleason, age 80, passed away Wednesday March 6, 2019 at his home in Prineville, Ore. Jim was born February 8, 1939, in Seattle, to Martin and Georgia Gleason. He was an avid outdoors man and athlete, signing a professional baseball contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates after graduating from Highline High School in 1957. He played baseball for three years before becoming a cadet with the Washington State patrol, and then joining the United States Marine Corps. He married and started a family with Joanne Reilly and after his military service was up, went back to his law enforcement career with the WSP for 25 years. He ran for office and was elected Klickitat County Sheriff for two consecutive terms before retiring from law enforcement for good. He spent the rest of his life painting, coaching baseball and shooting trap. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joanne; his sister Georganne, sons, Sean(Candis), Chris(Theresa), and Casey(Rhonda?); 4 grandchildren; and 4 nieces.
