Irene Elizabeth Stiles, 89, of Prineville passed away February 4, 2018. She was born February 1, 1929 to Nicholas S. Stiles and Elizabeth B. Assad in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Irene attended schools in Somerville, after completing high school she did her undergraduate work at Boston State in teaching. After receiving her master’s degree in teaching, she taught third grade in Medford, Massachusetts. She then moved to Oregon and taught school at Warm Springs kindergarten and elementary schools. Irene then moved to Ashland, Oregon and taught school there at George A. Briscow school for the first grade. She retired from teaching, then worked for the Oregon P.U.C at the Ashland Port of entry for over 11 years. She then retired again at age 62 in 1991. Irene moved to Prineville in 1998.
Irene loved to read Christian Science magazine, nonfiction books, historic novels, science and nutrition books. She wrote poetry and really enjoyed teaching literature to grade school children. She enjoyed walking and socializing with friends. Irene was a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Prineville.
She is survived by her sister Mary Enright of Georgia; June Berry of Maine. Numerous nieces and nephews.
