A service remembering her life will be held at First Baptist Church at noon on Tuesday, December 19th in Prineville, with internment immediately following Juniper Ridge Cemetery.

Esther was born on October 10, 1931 at the family farm house in Livona, North Dakota. She was the sixth of Jake and Elizabeth (Steiger) Himmerich’s children, and attended Emmons County Schools. She married Alvin DeBoer in 1949, and had two sons, Terry and Craig.

She later moved to Seattle, Washington where she met John Wrona. They married in 1954 and then settled in Bismarck, North Dakota where they had a daughter, Carol.  Esther worked at various retail businesses including JC Penny’s.

In 1987 she moved to Germany to live with her son Terry and his family where they ran a guesthouse where they frequently hosted soccer players and U.S. military members stationed nearby. During this time she was able to travel throughout Europe even wrote her name on the Berlin Wall.

After her European stint, she moved to Prineville, Oregon in 1992 to be near her family where she found the First Baptist Church. She was an active member for many years and particularly cherished her friends during her time with the church’s XYZ Bible Study Group and their many events, travels, and fellowship.

Esther was an avid crafter and baker. Her projects included painting dishtowels, and creating numerous beautiful quilts for her family and friends.

Christmas was always a special season to her and she loved decorating, baking, and hosting Christmas morning breakfast for her family. She looked forward to the Christmas Bazaar hosted by her senior community, and was famous for her fudge, banana bread, and cinnamon rolls.
