Ella Janette “Jan” Ruckel

Born December 31, 1961 to Evelyn and Johnnie Ruckel in Roseburg Oregon, passed away in her home surrounded by her loved ones November 6, 2017.

Jan was a professional driver if it had wheels she would drive it. Throughout her life she drove school bus, Greyhound and over the road long haul; she even drove log truck. Jan also trained horses for a living so if she wasn’t on the road you might find her on the trail. Some of her most precious moments in her life were spent in the saddle. She loved riding horses and spending time outdoors. Jan could spend hours sitting on the front porch watching the sunrise with her mom. Jan enjoyed spending quality time with her family especially her children.

Some of Jan’s favorite accomplishments were horseback trips that she took on the Pacific Crest Trail. Training the animals and understanding them gave her a great sense of joy.

Jan is Survived by her mother Eveyln Ruckel, children Christopher Holven of Sandy Or, Kristina Gaylord of Amboy Wa, sisters Irene Anderson of La Center Wa, Elizabeth Thomas of La Center Wa, Gail Smyth of La Center Wa. 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, her horse Pouty and of course her beautiful Great Dane, Sage.

Jan was preceded in death by her father Johnnie Ruckel.
