David Alexander Simpson
February 19, 1955 ~ April 29, 2018
David Alexander Simpson went to the rest of Lord on April 29 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 19, 1955, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Woodrow Wilson and Lola Marcelle (Denton) Simpson.
David grew up in North Las Vegas with his older siblings, Lloyd and Marilyn. He graduated from Rancho High School in 1972 and attended University of Nevada Las Vegas.
At the age of 17, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in Dearborn, Michigan, from 1978 to 1980. He married DeAnna Hale on April 10, 1993, in the Las Vegas, Nevada, LDS Temple. They were joined by three sons, Stefan, Trevor and Dallin.
Dave was active in the LDS church, serving as an executive secretary, Sunday school president, Elders Quorum secretary, Ward Mission leader, and was a Cub Scout leader for eight years. He loved playing softball and enjoyed watching college sports.
The Las Vegas Valley Water District was his employer. He worked as a meter reader and then field technician from 1984 to 2010. After he retired, the family moved to Prineville. His wit and gift of gab made him quickly acquainted with many in town.
Survivors include his wife, DeAnna Simpson; sons, Stefan and Dallin, of Prineville, and Trevor Simpson, of Louisville, Kentucky; brother Lloyd (Joy) Simpson, of St. George, Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lola Simpson, and his sister, Marilyn Bratlett.
