Beverly Kilton Griggs, a long time Prineville resident, died on June 7, 2019. Born December 28, 1933, (she arrived before the doctor did) in the West Kennebec region of Machias, Maine, the daughter of Harmond and Alta Kilton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Prineville at 11:00 AM on June 18, 2019.
Beverly grew up in Roque Bluffs, ME and attended the one room school there through the 8th grade. In 1952 she graduated from Machias Memorial High School; in 1954, she graduated from the School of X-Ray Technology at Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor, receiving her R.T. (Registered Technician) License. She worked at EMGH until 1955. In 1956, she moved from Maine to Inglewood, California and worked for Inglewood Medical Laboratory. She married John J. Griggs on July 22, 1957. In 1966, they moved to Bend, Oregon and in 1971 they moved to Prineville where she resided until 2017 when she moved back to Bend to a care facility.
She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, knitting, old movies, music (especially swing and Dixie Jazz), and yard sales. She liked going to the coast and loved her several trips to Waikiki Beach, Honolulu.
Beverly was a member of First Baptist Church in Prineville, active in the XYZ Senior group, the Christian Women’s Group, and Coffee Connections. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Machias, Maine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John. Survivors include her brother, David (Sharen) Kilton; sons, Shelby (Tina); Sean (Denise); Kevin (Elianeth); Ian (Renee); daughter, Julie Griggs; and nine grandchildren.
