William "Bill" Kent Tichenor

William Kent “Bill” Tichenor age 72

Of Madras Oregon was born September 3, 1943 in Portland Oregon to parents Wilber and Dorothea Tichenor. Bill Passed away in St. Charles Hospital April 26, 2016. Bill went into the Navy after he left High School and served his country for 30 years. He met and married the love of his life Reva Tean Merritt they exchanged vows in Powell Butte at the Christian Church.

During Bills tenure in the Navy he earned many citations and awards he obtained the rank of Senior Chief. After serving his country he served his community as a Level 3 EMT and a Volunteer Fire Fighter in Culver and also Chief of Police. He also served in the reserve Police for Crook and Jefferson counties; as well as a service technician for Crestview cable.

Some of his hobbies included hunting and shooting guns; another of his passions involved wood working also he could often be found reading a good Sci-fi book and loved reading the Bible. He could often be found leading the Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops he was involved with. Bill was a member of the Culver Christian Church.

One of his many life accomplishments was being named Fireman of the year in 1983. He was very proud to be involved in recruit training for Marksmanship Proficiency.

Bill is survived by his sons Joe Tichenor and his family and James Tichenor and his family. Bill had numerous sisters and a brother and much extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents his sister Judy and her Husband and their daughter also his beloved wife Reva Tean.

There will be a Graveside service for Bill Saturday May 14, 2016 10:00 am at Juniper Haven Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the Navy and the Prineville Band of Brothers Honor Guard. Prineville Funeral Home is honored to have been entrusted with the final arrangements.
