Richard D Rose

May 11, 1929 ~ July 26, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old


Richard Rose was born on May 11th 1929 in Corvallis, Oregon. He was the first of six sons born to David and Berenice  Rose.  He passed away on July 26th, 2017 in Prineville, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 of his brothers, Ewayne, Larry and Dennis, and his wife of nearly 62 years, Catherine “Kay” Rose He is survived by his 4 children, David and his wife Marie Rose of Beaver Creek, Oregon, Julie and her husband Doug Poling of Prineville, Oregon, Ken and his wife Linda Rose of Bend, Oregon, Jim and his wife Melissa Rose of Billings Montana, brothers Lloyd Rose of Post Falls, Idaho and Carroll of Seattle, Washington, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

 

Richard moved to Prineville with his family at a young age. He was married to Catherine “Kay” Mitts September 27th 1950 until her death in June 2012. After serving in the Army at Fort Lewis, Washington he and Kay lived in Grants Pass, Oregon before permanently settling in Prineville in the mid-1950s. Richard worked for Erickson’s supermarket for over 20 years. After leaving Erickson’s he started a lawn care business before his retirement.

 

Richard was a Cub Scout leader and an assistant Boy Scout leader. He led several multi-day back packing trips in the Three Sisters Wilderness area. A prolific photographer, he was active for many years in the Prineville camera club. An outdoorsman from childhood, he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Crook County Historical Society and the American Legion.
