Myrra Margaret (Churchill) Shivers

Myrra Margaret Shivers of Powell Butte, Oregon passed away on November 8, 2016. A celebration of life will be held at Prineville Funeral Home on Saturday November 12th at 3pm.

Myrra was born in London, England on December 31st 1926,  to George and Margaret Churchill.  

Myrra spent most of her youth in London. While working  at the American Embassy in England during WWII,   she met her husband,Richard Shivers.  They were married in 1945.  Soon after,  she came to The U.S on the Queen Mary with her newborn child, Ann.

Richard and Myrra made a home in Prineville, Or.  They soon welcomed 3 more children, Larry, Candice, and Rick.

Myrra  worked as a school teacher at Ochoco Elementary for 22 years.  She loved her kids.  Teaching was her greatest accomplishment, next to her family. She loved knitting, swimming, tea parties, playing cards, and reading.  She loved to volunteer her time at the library.

Myrra was a very special lady.  Anyone who met her loved her.  She will be missed by many.

Myrra is survived by her daughter Ann Duffield and son-in-law,  Robert James  Duffied of Georgia, her son, Larry Shivers, of Powell Butte, and her daughter-in-law, Patty Shivers of Prineville.  She has 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Myrra was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Michael Churchill, her son, Rick Shivers, and her daughter, Candice Albright.
