Josephine A Howell

Josephine A. Howell passed away peacefully with her roommate singing to her on January 14, 2017 at the Regency Care Center formerly known as Ochoco Care Center in Prineville Oregon.
Josephine was born to Arthur and Elizabeth Haldy on March 15, 1920 in Tennessee.

She graduated from high school at Sherwood Union High in Sherwood Oregon, the spring of 1938. Josephine then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pacific College in Newberg Oregon in June 1942. She acquired her teaching certificate on May 25, 1934 from the Common Schools of the state of Washington in Chelan Washington.

Josephine taught school in the Mount Vernon, Monument and Spray School districts. Prior to her retirement she was the librarian at Spray and went on to become the deputy clerk after Babe Stevens retired. She then retired to her home in Spray Oregon. She met her husband Everett Howell at a picnic hosted by friends determined that she and Everett meet. They became lifelong friends and partners until his passing. They were married one month shy of 68 years. They shared many interests during their marriage.

She was preceded in death by Everett and her parents and all of her siblings except one sister. Josephine is survived by her sister Frances Haldy of Kansas City Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
