Gilbert “Bud” Simonis passed away on August 5, 2016 he was born August 30, 1924 in Richland, Oregon to Obie and Ruth Simonis. Bud married Gloria Powers in Phoenix, Arizona and later moved to and made their permanent home in Bend, Oregon. Bud and Gloria’s passions in life were horses and a 60 year career in the horse racing industry. In 1968 Bud started working for the Oregon Racing Commission as the Supervisor of Horse Racing. Bud served in the army in the South Pacific during World War II.
Bud was preceded in death by his lovely wife Gloria; he is survived by his daughter Sharron and Steve Loney of Prineville, Oregon; grandson James "Mike "Jones of Prineville, Oregon; granddaughter Kimberley Sumner and husband Chad of Malott Washington grandson Ian Loney and wife Angela of Bothel, Washington two great grandsons Kash and Kruz Sumner of Malott, Washington and many extended family members and friends. Please join us August 20, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the Prineville Eagles Lodge 235 N. E. 4th St., Prineville, OR for celebration of Bud’s life.
