Doris Ann Holt-Mogus of Prineville, Oregon - beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend - passed away due to a stroke on January 28, 2016 at St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, Oregon. Prior to her stroke, Doris had survived a five-way by-pass of the heart in 1996. We were blessed to have her with us for an extra 20 years.
She was born Doris Ann Holt on July 2, 1942 in Plum City, Wisconsin, to Vernon L. Holt and Mathilda Holt (Kaempf). Doris was the twin to Dorothy Alkire of South Lake Tahoe, California, and the last of nine children born to Vernon and Mathilda. Her parents, one sister (Edith Hanson), one brother (Eldon Holt), one brother-in-law (Elwood Andrews), one sister-in-law (Jean Clark) preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Mogus, son David (Adrienne) Rymer of Salem, Oregon, step-son Mike (Tammie) Mogus of Wakefield, Nebraska, grandchildren Rebecca, Brittney, Devan, Gavan and Shannon Rymer, Maddie and Mikkie Mogus, sisters Dorothy (Larry) Alkire , Inez (Lyle) Ross of Hager City, Wisconsin, and Lois (Elwood "Fritz") Andrews of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin and brothers Clyde Holt of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, Norman (Flora) Holt and Marshal (Sherry) Holt of Bay City, Wisconsin and numerous great-grand children, nieces and nephews.
Doris radiated love with everyone she came in contact (hugs all around). She was known for her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor. She loved to garden and enjoyed feeding the quail that came around for a handout. Her roses were like no other even though she had to share with the deer.
She loved to travel with Raymond in their motorhome and visit with friends and family across the country. Her friends and attendees at their wedding 31 years ago said "it will never last". Well they proved them wrong.
Doris, you are loved and will be greatly missed.
