Don came to Oregon when he was about 19 years old. Jobs at the mills were plenty and his aunt and uncle invited him to come. He put his roots down and never left Prineville. Don was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Don’s activities reflect the life of a committed follower of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. As a member of First Baptist Church for many years he served as a deacon, youth leader and Sunday school teacher. He lead hymn singing for church services and sang in the church choir each Sunday. Recently he has attended the Prineville Community Church.
Don was a skilled and talented musician trained on trumpet and possessing a beautiful tenor voice. He sang with the Prineville Community Choir and often performed solos at the concerts.
He received the United States Postal Service Award in appreciation for dedicated service during an honorable career of 33 years service to the government of the United States.
An avid golfer upon retirement, Don sank his first and only hole-in-one on August 18, 2006, at the age of 78, on the 13th hole at Meadow Lakes Golf Course.
