Clarence Max Whitrock, 91 of Prineville went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2017.
Clarence was born on May 11, 1926 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to George and Emma (Turkofski) Whitrock. He married Julia Ann (Jewel) Kruger on September 26, 1953 in San Bernardino, California.
Clarence was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy. For over 30 years, Clarence worked as a civilian procurement manager for the government in the states of California, Utah, Illinois and Iowa. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, watching the stock market and in his earlier years, his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
In 2009, Clarence and Jewel, both in their early eighties, bravely moved from Iowa to Oregon to live close to their only child, Steve, and his family.
Survivors include Steve and daughter in law, Maria Whitrock, of Prineville, two grandchildren, Ben Whitrock of San Diego, CA and Alyssa Whitrock of Redondo Beach, CA and their faithful dog, Zappa (who was Clarence’s favorite companion).
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: Leslie, Ernest, Harold and Donald, 1 sister, Dorothy Ashenberg and his wife, Jewel, of 56 years.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Prineville Funeral Home. A private family ceremony will take place. Burial will follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. Memorials can be sent to Bettendorf Christian Church in Bettendorf, Iowa, where Clarence and Jewel were long time members.
