Dolores "Dee" Wettstein Obituary

Dolores (Dee) Wettstein, 90, peacefully passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, surrounded by love at Celia’s Hospice House in Medford, Oregon.  Dee was born August 2, 1933, in San Francisco, CA to Michael and Eleanor (Felix) Holland and was very close to her younger brother, Mike who passed in 2015.

She attended ICA High School in San Francisco, CA.  Dee worked for the San Rafael City School District in San Rafael, CA, and retired after 20 years of service.

Her beloved husband and best friend of 66 years, Charles (Chuck) Wettstein preceded her in death in 2018.  They both loved living in Prineville, Oregon and enjoyed their retirement there for many years.  Dee was an active volunteer spending time with the Crook County School District, S.M.A.R.T. reading programs, Crook County School Board, and her tireless contributions to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church as the Director of Religious Education and as a Eucharistic Minister.  Dee loved her time working with children and with the many other volunteers and co-workers.

Dee spent the last five years with family in Jacksonville, Oregon where she had many happy days spending time and talking with family and friends, enjoying delicious foods, playing games on her tablet, watching movies, and playing with her dog, Ellie.

She is survived by her children: Linda Christ and (son-in law Peter Christ, M.D.) of Birdsboro, PA, Susan Markie and (son-in-law Don Litchfield) of Jacksonville, OR.  Also surviving are grandsons, Matthew Christ and (wife Melissa Christ) of Delaware, OH and Daniel Christ of Birdsboro, PA; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nicholas, and Breanna Christ; and five nephews.

A most beloved wife, mom, Grammy Dela, Auntie, and friend, we will always treasure the memories of her great sense of humor, laughter, love of children and teaching, her special bond with canine friends, and all her cherished memories of family and friends.  She will be greatly missed and remembered.
