Clinton Brooks Jr. Obituary

Clinton Charles (Clint) Brooks, Jr. was born September 1, 1939, to Clinton Charles Brooks and Alice (Peterson) Brooks in Escondido, CA. He died at his Prineville, OR home unexpectedly on March 28, 2024, from pulmonary fibrosis. Clint started his life in Blyth, CA, with his family and his first horse. They moved to Moorpark, CA where he graduated high school and met the first love of his life, Bonnie Barber. Clint and Bonnie had three children:

Jody, Tammy, and Jennifer. They spent their first years in Camarillo, CA where he began his home building and concrete career as an apprentice and then partnership with John Mayes.

Always of strong faith, Clint taught Sunday school and lead youth groups for 23 years primarily in California, and three years at the Powell Butte Christian Church. He was baptized by Pastor Penny Penhollow at the Powell Butte church always with Bonnie at his side.

The Brookses moved to Powell Butte, OR in the early 80's where Clint with son Jody continued his love of building and resumed his love of horses. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, which accounted for his desire to move to Central Oregon. After losing his beloved Bonnie in 2005 to a brain tumor, he was lucky enough to meet the second love of his life, Barbara "Bobbi" Young. Clint and Bobbi continued his building contractor business until his failing health caused him to retire. His touch is evident throughout Prineville and Crook County including the Courthouse tower, the former Pioneer Memorial Hospital, BLM Bldg., Ochoco Christian Conf. Ctr (formerly Mt. Bachelor Academy) plus building beautiful homes in Prineville, Powell Butte, Brasada Ranch, and Mountain View Estates (his own development).

Clint rode and raised many horses. His favorite was Chanto, his smart and sturdy Mustang, and he was most proud of his Reserve World Champion, Genuine Doctor Pepper. He had a myriad of horse stories to tell you and missed the horses until the end.

Clint loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, Bobbi Brooks of Prineville, daughter Tammy Schutze (Eric Schutze) of Ojai CA, daughter Jennifer Brooks of Denver CO, son Jody Brooks of Pendleton OR, grandchildren Nicole Curley (Josh Curley), Josh "J. D. Hardwick, Chad & Camille Schutze, and Corbin Longshore (Jennifer Longshore). Clint was proud of his grandchildren and was thrilled to be a great grandfather to Macey & Jaden Curley, Maiyuri Jun Hardwick, and Aiden, Cohen & Harper Longshore. He is also survived by beloved cousins, nieces and nephews along with Barber family members who were always in his prayers and never forgotten. And he cherished his friends!

He was preceded in death by both parents, first wife Bonnie (Barber) Brooks, and sister

Beverly Alice Morrison.
